THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER: Week 7

Happy Thursday everyone! Football will be played tonight, is it a game that I’m personally excited for? No but every game is important for all fantasy owners.

Six teams have a bye in week 7, this edition of THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER is a crucial. Get this win in week 7! I’ll get right to it.

QB

RYAN TANNEHILL, TEN v. JOE BURROW, CIN– This like McGregor-Poirier 3. Tannehill and Burrow have been matched up many of times on THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER and I’ve picked differently based on matchups. Tannehill has the more favorable matchup as the Titans host the Chiefs, while Burrow and the Bengals travel to Baltimore to take on the Edgar Allan Poe Ravens. This is a matchup based decision, I like Burrow more for the duration of the season, but for week 7 purposes, give me Tannehill. WINNER: RYAN TANNEHILL, TEN

MATT RYAN, ATL v. SAM DARNOLD, CAR– This is an intriguing one as both quarterbacks have great matchups in week 7. The Falcons will host the Dolphins who are allowing an average of 21.0 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. The Panthers travel to New Jersey to take on the Giants who are allowing an average of 21.8 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. Darnold has not played great ever since Christian McCaffrey went down. Matt Ryan will have Calvin Ridley back in week 7, go with Matty Ice and expect a productive game. WINNER: MATT RYAN, ATL

DEREK CARR, LV v. CARSON WENTZ, IND– Carr is 13th in quarterback points thus far in 2021, while Wentz is 16th. Carr and the Raiders will be hosting the Eagles while Wentz and the Colts travel to San Francisco to play the 49ers on Sunday Night Football. Wentz’s ankles are improving and so is his production. Jonathan Taylor is playing better, I really think Wentz is a sneaky option going forward. Start him over Derek Carr in week 7. WINNER: CARSON WENTZ, IND

RB

JAMES CONNER, ARI v. D’ERNEST JOHNSON, CLE– Conner and the Cardinals will be playing the Texans. The Cardinals should put up a ton of points. D’Ernest Johnson will start for the Browns on a minor league offense in week 7. Case Keenum is under center, this team is banged up. Stay away from all Browns tonight. WINNER: JAMES CONNER, ARI

MICHAEL CARTER, NYJ v. MYLES GASKIN, MIA– The last time the Jets played the Patriots in 2021, Michael Carter had 10.8 fantasy points. He seems to be the lead back for the Jets, but it’s a tough matchup and Ty Johnson will be involved. I’m not really sure what the Miami Dolphins are doing at running back. Gaskin is by far their best back but it seems to be a rotation based on gameplay. I expect Gaskin to be involved in week 7 against the Falcons. WINNER: MYLES GASKIN, MIA

MIKE DAVIS, ATL v. DEVONTAE BOOKER, NYG– Even though Davis will be splitting work with Cordarrelle Patterson, the Dolphins are allowing an average of 29.5 fantasy points to opposing running backs. Booker, on the other hand, should see a majority of the work but will be playing the Panthers that are allowing an average of 14.9 fantasy points per game to opposing running backs. Go with Mike Davis here. WINNER: MIKE DAVIS, ATL

WR

DEVONTA SMITH, PHI v. JAYLEN WADDLE, MIA- Two rookies who were drafted in the first round start off our ULTIMATE FIGHTER comparison in week 7. Smith and the Eagles will be playing in Las Vegas against the Raiders. Zach Ertz is no longer an Eagle, something that will surely allow DeVonta Smith to see an increase in targets. Waddle and the Dolphins take on the Falcons that allow an average of 40.3 fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers. If DeVante Parker plays, I’d lean towards Smith, but I don’t think he will. WINNER: JAYLEN WADDLE, MIA

STERLING SHEPARD, NYG v. JAKOBI MEYERS, NE– Shepard has been Daniel Jones’ go to target on the Giants, while Meyers has been Mac Jones’ go to target on the Patriots. Shepard and the Giants have a tough matchup against the Panthers that are allowing an average of 35.4 fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers. Meyers had 7.8 fantasy points the last time the Patriots played the Jets this season. Jakobi Meyers will score a touchdown in week 7, the first of his career, mark my words. I don’t trust any Giant this week. WINNER: JAKOBI MEYERS, NE

MECOLE HARDMAN, KC v. MARQUES CALLAWAY, NO– This is a personal decision that I am trying to make. Hardman and the Chiefs take on the Titans that are allowing an average of 50.5 fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. Callaway and the Saints take on the Seahawks that are allowing an average of 40.7 fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. Hardman is on a loaded offense, targets will be harder to come by. Callaway is the best option for the Saints, but on the season he only has 21 targets in 5 games. This is tough, I’m going to go with the guy who’s quarterback can see. WINNER: MECOLE HARDMAN, KC

TE

DALLAS GOEDERT, PHI v. TYLER HIGBEE, LAR– If you are unaware, Zach Ertz is now a member of the Arizona Cardinals. It is now the Dallas Goedert show in Philadelphia. The Raiders are allowing an average of 17.6 fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Higbee is averaging 9.0 fantasy points per game thus far. The Dallas Goedert show is going to start in week 7. WINNER: DALLAS GOEDERT, PHI

RICKY SEALS-JONES, WSH v. ZACH ERTZ, ARI– This is an interesting one. Seals-Jones will continue to be the starting tight end as Logan Thomas is still recovering from a hamstring injury. The Packers are allowing an average of 13.7 fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends. Zach Ertz should make his debut as an Arizona Cardinal. I do like Ertz going forward, but if this is the decision you have to make, go with Ricky. WINNER: RICKY SEALS-JONES, WSH

COLE KMET, CHI v. HUNTER HENRY, NE– Kmet is 34th in tight end scoring, averaging 4.5 fantasy points per game. Henry is 9th in tight end scoring, averaging 10.7 fantasy points per game. This is an easy one. WINNER: HUNTER HENRY, NE
